I haven't posted much about my vacation with Seth and Carrie because I am letting her do all the work posting. She does a much better job and she also took the most pictures.

The Next Best Thing to a Rain Barrel

The More With Less Cookbook and the new water bill that just came in got me thinking. I am wasting so much water, just letting it go down the drain into the septic tank to make my grass greener so I can mow it more often. Deep thoughts in the tub.






So I have come up with a solution. Put the water in buckets and water my compost pile. This works great because we don't have a hose in the backyard. It also helps that we live in a rural area, the neighbors won't think I am nuts.

Sticker Shock

I haven't been to the grocery store in several weeks. I have been out of town and when I was home used what we had in supply. I hate going to the grocery store. Well yesterday we were down to the last noodle. Time to go to the store. I couldn't believe the prices.


Its time to go back to the basics by that I mean The More with Less cookbook. It's scratch cooking. Takes more time but saves a lot of money. By using this cookbook I was able to spend less than 25.00 a week with a family of five in the 80's.

Bath or shower

Last night before giving the grandchildren baths, the subject came up as to the age children should quit taking baths and start taking showers. I was sort of surprised that some people thought there was an age limit on baths.

I have never done a poll before and since I am leaving to fly in the sky with my dear dil I thought I would give my blogging friends something to think about.

Deep thoughts. Well deep if you take baths!
